Drinky Birds

Illustration on Prohibition. Doves represent the extremist religious groups and the drinking birds the alcohol supporters. Did this one for Sketchbook class. I'm really happy with how it came out.

Reporter - Beginners Guide to Urban Exploring

Article for the Reporter. Came out pretty good though one person said that it could have been 'grittier' and I could see it going in that direction as well. I suppose what I was going for was some lighter/airier colors since these people are beginners and not veteran (gritty) explorers. Overall I like this one a lot. (The cropping is strange because the illustration ran in the upper left hand corner of the article.)

Spider Cook

Rejected concept for an editorial illustration about starting a new business. Turned out pretty interesting despite the disconnect. It could however definitely be about becoming a chef or spiders with interesting characteristics (ones that mate in mid air, how they catch their food, etc...).

Bell Jar

Project about creating the feeling associated with a secret society. The concept here is supposed to illustrate an inviting, warm environment that the outside viewer, in their cold and rainy world, desires to become part of. Took about 8 hours with concept and execution. Watercolors and Acrylic on Bristol board.

Nature Studies

Studies for Sketchbook class. I was particularly loving mushrooms this week. Sketches in graphite.

Gummy Bears

Gummy Bear article about mixing drinks. Haven't used Photoshop in while so I was pretty pleased about how this turned out.

Reporter: Game as a Product vs. Game as a Service

Article from the Reporter dealing with games that offer micro-transactions and downloadable content vs. quality games that endure the test of time.

All Night

Owl Boxer. I really like how this came out. 'All Night' because owls are out hunting at night...looking for prey.

Finicky B/W

Illustration for Sketchbook class. I actually prefer the way it looks in black and white to my colored version. The plan is to take it into Photoshop and add color.

Arkane and Ancient Sketches

Sketches for comic series I want to create called The Riftmaster. These character sketches are for the main character Arkane the current Riftmaster and the Ancient of Creation, one of the raw powers of the Universe. I hope to use the series to create a set of character designs for my Fantasy and Character Design portfolios.

Fun at the Beach, Art Everywhere

Went up to Sodus to go the lake and have some food. While sitting around the fire I decided to do my best to sketch one of the girls sitting there and an eye. It was a good time.

Zoo Cage Painting - Seneca Park Zoo

Cage for turtles that I painted with fellow artist Shin Wakabayashi. The whole project took about 18 hours with two people working on the painting. I hope the turtles enjoy their new home :)

Vica

Experimenting with dry brush and inking. I'll probably be doing more portraits like this to get the technique down. The permanency of ink is what attracts me because I feel like if you can screw up easily you will try harder. The face is a little wonky but I love how the shirt came out.

Sketches

Ithaca Falls

Ithaca falls and a cartoon of some fashion images I found. The guy had a weird expression so I figured there had to be a reason...snails.

Finished Landscape

Finally done with this one. Mixed media project where we insert a figure into a landscape (I painted the landscape on location). Went a lot better than I thought it would.
